[TreeOfLife] Please spread the word about Bible Camp!

Hi, folks.  This is the first message sent to the new Tree of Life
Lutheran Bible Camp mailing list.  If you're not familiar with Tree of
Life, it's a one-week summer camp held in the Sierra foothills every
year, sponsored by the northern California and Nevada churches in
fellowship with the WELS.  I won't write a long description of Bible
camp here to try to convince you of how great it is.  Instead, please
look at our web site at www.TreeOfLifeBibleCamp.org, and/or read the
information in the camper and staff application forms that I've attached
to this mail.  Camp dates this year are July 30 to August 5.

Along with people who've been associated with camp in the past, I've
added all of the area pastors and teachers whose email addresses are in
the Synod yearbook.  We only expect to send out a few emails a year, so
I hope you won't mind being on this mailing list, but you can always
remove yourself using the web address shown in the header and at the
bottom of each message.

Most of your schools are probably about to have their last week of
classes, so I'd like to ask teachers especially to tell their students a
little about Bible camp and to suggest it as a fun (and worthwhile)
activity for them to spend a week on this summer.

Pastors, each of your churches should have received a packet of
application forms and bulletin inserts in the mail around Easter.  I'd
like to ask you to check that the forms have been made available to your
members and that you've used the inserts (or other means) to publicize
the camp.

Finally, everyone, if you yourself or anyone else you know are
interested and qualified to serve at camp as counselors or other staff,
please apply!  It may be a bit of a busman's holiday for teachers to
spend a week supervising youngsters, but it's still a great change of
pace: you get to spend a week in an outdoor setting, without classroom
responsibilities, and perhaps with a different age group and/or smaller
group than you usually get to work with.
